Compak SA
South Africa
A federation platform: member records, competition entries, live scoring, rankings and certificates in one system.
Before vs After
Same practice. Rebuilt for the people it is meant to serve.
- A brochure site only — members could not do anything on it.
- Results, rankings and newsletters published as loose PDF downloads.
- Competition entries handled off-site by email and spreadsheets.
- Separate 'App Login' and 'Website Login' entry points, with no single member record.
- Dated, cluttered layout that did not work well on a phone at the range.
- Public federation site with clubs, disciplines, competitions, rankings and news.
- Member portal covering results, rankings, certificates, documents and notifications.
- Live scoring with public scoreboards, squads, rotations and timetables.
- Administrator back office with results import, gamification and a full audit log.
Replaced spreadsheets, email threads, PDF downloads and paper scoresheets with one system.
Inside the build
The problem
- Federation administration ran on spreadsheets, email threads and manual scoresheets.
- Competition entries, squadding and results took days of manual work per event.
- Members had no single place to see rankings, results, certificates or documents.
What changed
- One system replaces spreadsheets for member records, entries, results and rankings.
- Results and rankings publish to members automatically instead of being circulated by email.
- Event day runs on live scoring with a public scoreboard rather than paper scoresheets.
- Certificates and dedicated status are generated on demand and independently verifiable.
- Every administrative action is captured in an audit trail.
Approach
- Role-based access for members, club officials, scoring staff and administrators
- Bulk import tooling for legacy member and results data
- Transactional email with deliverability monitoring
- Public API and structured data for rankings and results
